La Capa de Ozono

I first heard about the ozone layer about twenty years ago. I was still in school. I thought it was interesting, but I didn’t take it seriously. It was a bit like science fiction, I mean, how could there be a giant hole in the atmosphere? Over the years, more and more scientists spoke about the ozone layer. Global warming became a serious issue. Important people like Al Gore made movies about it. We all know today that the thinning ozone layer is perhaps the most serious crisis we face today. Even though many people have changed their lifestyles, we are still damaging the ozone layer. We need to do something really drastic to stop this. We all need to stop driving cars and stop using coal. That would be a start.



La primera vez que oí hablar de la capa de ozono hace unos veinte años. Yo todavía estaba en la escuela. Pensé que era interesante, pero no me lo tomo en serio. Fue un poco a ciencia ficción, quiero decir, ¿Cómo puede haber un agujero gigante en la atmósfera? A través de los años, más y más científicos hablaron sobre la capa de ozono. El calentamiento global se convirtió en un problema grave. La gente importante como Al Gore hicieron películas sobre él. Todos sabemos hoy que el adelgazamiento de la capa de ozono es quizás la más grave crisis que enfrentamos hoy. A pesar de que muchas personas han cambiado su estilo de vida, todavía estamos dañando la capa de ozono. Tenemos que hacer algo realmente drástico para detener esto. Todos tenemos que dejar de conducir coches y dejar de usar carbón. Eso sería un buen comienzo.
