Why is Learning Spanish so Important?
According to a report by the Instituto Cervantes , Spanish is the second language in the world by number of native speakers and second language in international communication. We summarize the present and future outlook in six figures :
Over 495 million people speak Spanish .
For demographic reasons the percentage of the world population that speaks Spanish as their native language is increasing, while the proportion of speakers of Chinese and English is decreasing.
In 2030, 7.5% of the world population will speak Spanish (a total of 535 million people), a figure that stands out above that of Russian ( 2.2%), French (1.4% ) and German ( 1.2%). By then, it will only be overtaken by the Chinese as a group of native speakers.
Within three or four generations, 10% of the world population will understand Spanish .
In 2050, the United States will be the number 1 Spanish-speaking country in the world. About 18 million students are currently studying Spanish as a foreign language.

¿Por qué aprender español es tan importante?
Según un informe elaborado por el Instituto Cervantes, el español es la segunda lengua en el mundo por número de hablantes nativos y el segundo idioma en comunicación internacional. Te resumimos su panorama presente y futuro en seis cifras:

Por razones demográficas, el porcentaje de población mundial que habla español como lengua nativa está aumentando, mientras la proporción de hablantes de chino e inglés desciende.
En 2030, el 7,5% de la población mundial será hispanohablante (un total de 535 millones de personas), porcentaje que destaca por encima del ruso (2,2%), del francés (1,4%) y del alemán (1,2%). Para entonces, solo el chino superará al español como grupo de hablantes de dominio nativo.
Dentro de tres o cuatro generaciones, el 10% de la población mundial se entenderá en español.
En 2050, Estados Unidos será el primer país hispanohablante del mundo.
Unos 18 millones de alumnos estudian actualmente español como lengua extranjera.
